Berkeley Rower Inspires “The Great Lung Run”
When Jill’s childhood friend, Kelcey Harrison, recently ran across the country in Jill’s memory, Jill’s Berkeley teammates joined her on the last part of the 4-month run from New York to San Francisco. That was only one instance of many in which Berkeley’s women’s crew, calling itself “Team Jill,” has made it their cause to press for more attention to lung cancer. The disease kills more people than any other cancer, and 80% of its victims are non-smokers. The team sponsors “Jog for Jill” runs, raising more than $150,000 for the Bonnie J Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. It has established a scholarship and an award in Jill’s name, in addition to other efforts to enhance public awareness. Click here or on the image to watch the inspiring video.
