Hagg Lake 50K

Jacob Puzey won the Hagg Lake 50K on Saturday, Feb 16, in a course record time of 3:24:23 (6:34 pace!) followed by Jason Leman (3:40:53) in the third best time in history. Andrea Jarzombek-Holt was the first female also setting a course record in 4:07:10, followed by Joelle Vaught. Look at her face, her legs, her body posture: trail racing is hard; ultra trail racing is harder still. On an overcast day that got brighter and colder as the day wore on, ordinary trail runners, one as old (young) as 74, finished their adventures with smiles and complaints and the absolute promise to never, ever do it again. Not surprising to me that most of them were overheard to be planning their next trail ultra before they got to the parking lot. It just works that way.
